In addition to being a registered nurse and herbalist, Leah Lou also managed the University of Miami School of Medicine Anesthesia Residency Program and MedFacts, Medical Review & Fraud Detection before embracing the Palm Beach County edition of Natural Awakenings.

Her motivation and goal is to play a significant educational role in integrative and holistic medicine and to bring readers valuable, cutting-edge information that can help them manage their personal and family health and wellness programs.

She is passionate about organic gardening and involving the whole community in developing substantial family life skills. As a publisher of a monthly print/online magazine and production manager, Leah Lou is also a Mom, grandma of six and wife of Clifton Patton, MD.

Mishal brings her project and computer organizational skills to our team from 25 years of healthcare data management. In addition to bringing order to information chaos, she is an Aromatherapist and Shamanic Herbalist devoted to healthy living energetics. She is a passionate researcher and student of Native American spiritual practices. Mishal supplies us with juicing recipes to boost immune function and metabolic support during layout.

John Burke.JPGJohn Burke, Web Design

John has more than 20 years of editorial and web editing experience. He cut his journalism teeth at a community weekly newspaper in Miami (circulation about 30,000) and worked as a daily reporter on the Treasure Coast before moving on to web writing, editing and design, as well as financial writing and editing.

John is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine where he earned his B.A. in English (Summa Cum Laude). He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is a Vajrayana Buddhist practitioner in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

Haley brings her special brand of “Renaissance Skills” to almost every specialty team at Natural Awakenings.  In addition to managing three of the nice distribution routes in Palm Beach County, she applies her University of Miami Graphic Design and Art degree to helping first-time advertisers design a smart, powerful ad that communicates the advertiser’s real mission. 

She aides advertisers in the monthly production crunch-time deadlines with her special brand of hand-holding to get all the extras in the magazine, such as calendar items and newsbrief editorial. 

Because she spends her time in the field, she is a county ‘regions’ expert and helps her clients drive traffic to their special locale and trains new distributors.  Haley of bilingual English/Spanish.

William H. Stager, D.O., M.S. has been on our editorial board since our first issue. His monthly column in Natural Awakenings is a much demanded editorial item by readers of all ages.  He writes, lectures, and teaches all over the US, has two board certifications in Osteopathic Medicine and Family Medicine, is a Clinical Assisstant Professor in two medical schools, teaches in three local Palm Beach hospitals, and is the Medical Director of the Flagler Institute for Rehabilitation.

Clifton Patton, MD

Medical Director in addition to his full-time position in Univeristy of Miami's Miller School of Medicine at Bascom Palmer Palm Beach and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Dr Patton over sees the medical purpose and integrity of articles submitted to Natural Awakenings Palm Beach County. Believing passionately in an individual's personal commitment for health care, Dr. Patton is proud to support our magazine's effort to bring health information to the reader that will aide them in their health management.
